Inside your role as a
Packaging Operator Hoogeveen
- You start your shift at our bakery in Bunschoten-Spakenburg. Together with your colleagues, you discuss the schedule: which products are running, when changeovers are planned, and what the key focus points are. Then you go to your line. You check the packaging machine, prepare foil and labels, and make sure everything is ready to start.
- Once the line is running, you perform the first checks. You verify whether the product looks good, whether the packaging is correct, and whether the weight meets the standard. You operate the flowpack machine, labeling machine, or palletizer and keep the line running smoothly. Together with the production operator, you coordinate what is needed to maintain the pace.
- When a changeover is coming up, you’ve already prepared for it. You replace foil, reset the machine, and ensure everything continues quickly once the next product arrives. Meanwhile, you guide the 2 to 5 packaging employees you work with. You divide tasks, assist where needed, and help ensure checks are carried out properly.
- If the line stops or jams, you investigate the issue and resolve minor malfunctions yourself. Replacing foil, cleaning blades, or adjusting settings; your technical insight takes you a long way.
- During your shift, you record weights, labels, and quality data at set intervals. Midway through the shift, you discuss progress with your team leader regarding quality, safety, waste, output, and planning.
- At the end of your shift, you briefly hand over to the next team and leave the line clean and organized. As you walk out, you still smell cookies and spices, and sometimes later you’ll spot the exact product in the store that passed through your line. That gives every operator here a sense of pride.
