I’m a true Spakenburger and love working hard. I enjoy passing this mentality on to my colleagues. We have to do it together! It’s really convenient for me that my work is close to home, right here in the same village.

I’ve been working at De Graaf Bakeries for ten years and still enjoy it every day. Every day is different and never boring. In our Order Support team, there’s a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We even meet up outside of work now and then for a drink or a game night!

My name is Stephan and I’ve been working as a baker at De Graaf Bakeries in Spakenburg for over 15 years. I have to say, I really enjoy my job. The great thing about it is that no two days are the same. Every day, I work on something new and contribute to making a variety of products. What makes it even better is the friendly atmosphere and my fantastic colleagues. So, if you see me walking around with a smile on my face, now you know why. Working at De Graaf Bakeries is simply great!

Erwin

When De Graaf Bakeries approached me for the position of Team Leader in the Technical Service, I had already received several other offers and had decided to move to another company. However, I was convinced to come in for an interview. After the introductory meeting, I was given a tour, and what I saw really appealed to me. I thought, “It’s much better here! A friendly atmosphere and great products.”

Bram

The introduction day at de Graaf Bakeries was an amazing experience! I got the chance to explore all aspects of the company, from production to quality control. The highlight was, of course, baking and tasting a delicious filled cookie myself. A fun and flavorful day I’ll never forget!

Inside your role as a

Mechanical Technician Spakenburg

De Graaf Bakeries produces thousands of products daily for consumers across Europe. Our delicious snacks can be found in all Dutch supermarkets, gas stations, and other retailers. To continue our growth and development, we invest heavily in the latest machines and technologies. As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll work independently to solve issues with production lines at our Spakenburg location.

When a sensor signals a malfunction or a relay needs replacing, you’ll handle it without hesitation. In addition to troubleshooting, you’ll also work with the team on preventive maintenance. When a production line stops for half an hour due to a malfunction, the costs can quickly add up. It’s an important and responsible role!

The Technical Service team is on-site from 06:00 to 17:00, working in two shifts: from 06:00 to 15:00, and from 08:00 to 17:00. This means you can coordinate your start time. Flexible hours are possible through consultation.

Your day as a technician in the cookie industry

You’ll start your day by performing preventive maintenance on the machines to ensure everything continues to run smoothly.

You’ll participate in the morning meeting, where you and your team review the schedule, discuss any issues and go over safety and important points for the day.

Next, you’ll focus on solving breakdowns and carrying out inspections. You have a keen eye for detail and ensure that all machines continue to operate at peak performance. You’ll also work on process improvements and conduct repairs when necessary.

During the day, you’ll have time for a well-deserved lunch break, where you can relax and recharge for the afternoon.

In the afternoon, you’ll continue with larger maintenance projects or improvements to the machines. You’ll also quickly address any urgent technical problems. When everything is running smoothly, you’ll test the machines to ensure production can continue at full speed.

At the end of the day, you’ll finish up any remaining tasks, update the documentation, and tidy up your tools. You’ll hand over ongoing tasks to your colleagues so they can pick them up in the next shift.

Looking for someone like you!

As a Mechanical Technician, you work independently, and it’s important that you can prioritize tasks. When multiple important issues arise, you keep a cool head and can decide where the most urgent matter lies. You enjoy being part of a team and find it important to work collaboratively. You will work in a day shift, with on-call duty every three weeks from Friday at 17:00 until the following Friday at 06:00. Additionally, you’ll rotate with your colleagues to work on a Saturday. To ensure the machines don’t stay down for too long, it’s important that you live within a 45-minute commute from your work location.
