Owner Wouter de Graaf, the fourth generation of a family of bakers, started his own pastry shop in 1990.
More than three decades later, we create on a large scale, the best sweet and savory snack experience.
Our ambition is boundless. De Graaf Bakeries keeps on growing.

Within our company of over 250 colleagues, family values and craftsmanship are central.
That means an informal atmosphere and that we feel free to ask questions. We help each other.

And advise on functional packaging through to attractive shelf presentation.
In our training center or on location, we train shop employees on defrosting and baking bake-off snacks.

How it all started - From scratch to now

How it all started
In the center of Spakenburg
Aart de Graaf, a fisherman on the IJsselmeer became seasick and sought work ashore. He opened a small village bakery in the center of Spakenburg.

Village bakery 'de Graaf'
The next two generations of de Graaf build the village bakery into an industrial bakery with customers throughout the Netherlands.

Grandma's cake
1955/1956 Opening of new bakery in Spakenburg. Grandma's cake is one of the best known brands.

Establishment 'Banketbakkerij Wouter de Graaf'
Wouter de Graaf, by now the fourth generation, opens a small pastry shop in Spakenburg, baking fresh filled cakes for artisan bakers. The assortment is later expanded to include cookies, butter cake slices and coconut macaroons.

The artisanal bakery
As a result of the growth, a new modern industrial bakery is opened up in Spakenburg.

Bake-off specialist
As one of the first in the Netherlands, Wouter de Graaf produces bake-off products.

Mola
For the production and sale of flaky pastry products, a cooperation is set up with the family-run Mola company.

Export
Our products were first tasted in Belgium, Germany and Scandinavia.

Oliebollen Beverwijk
The start of the production of oliebollen in Beverwijk.

Opening of the refrigerated warehouse
To allow the company to grow, we built a new distribution center with office space at the Metaalweg in Bunschoten-Spakenburg. There is room for about 4,000 pallets here.

Acquisition of 'Bakkersland' in Hoogeveen
The acquisition of the frozen division of Bakkersland resulted in a new production location in Hoogeveen. Our range expanded with more than 200 products.

Name change
Banketbakkerij Wouter de Graaf is renamed De Graaf Bakeries. This also involves a new branding.

Mars®-branded cookies
Our bakers developed the first fresh cookies in Europe with the favorite Mars brands TWIX®, M&M's® and SNICKERS®.

Acquisition of Tarte-Line Emmen
Expansion of American Bakery segment and E-commerce activities.

New Construction Hoogeveen
In Hoogeveen, we made room for two brand-new production lines. Our Freezer Warehouse offers space for as many as 2400 pallet positions.
